Ready for a New School Year!

We’re gearing up for a new school year in the Arts & Smarts Program!

Our Leadership Training for youth in grades 6-12 begins on Tuesday, September 7 and runs Monday-Thursday from 3:00 pm-5:30 pm through September 20. During Leadership Training, we’ll get to know our Youth Leaders, we’ll teach them how to be good role models for the younger Arts & Smarts participants, and we’ll do some special projects designed just for them.

Many of the youth who make up our Leadership Team have been involved in Patchwork programming for years, though there are always new faces in the group. Being part of the Leadership Team is something they have worked toward as younger kids in our programming. It’s a valuable opportunity for them to take on new responsibility, to stretch themselves as emerging leaders, and to rise to meet higher expectations.

And this year, our Junior Leaders will have even more freedom to help shape our Arts & Smarts program! During Leadership Training, we’ll lead them in choosing the projects and activities we’ll do with the younger kids, thereby allowing them more power within the programming. This means they’ll have greater investment in the activities and will be an active part of making every project happen.

Arts & Smarts programming for children in grades 1-5 will begin on Tuesday, September 21 and will run Monday-Thursday, 3:00 pm-5:30 pm. Activities will include art, gardening, and more! As always, participants will be surrounded by a strong community of supportive adults who encourage them to be their best. A full list of projects is still to be determined—depending on what our Junior Leaders decide we should do! Each day will also include individual time for children to work on homework one-on-one with adults.

Registration forms are available in our main office and on our website HERE. Because of the dramatic increase in covid-19 cases locally, we will continue with the safety protocols we established last school year. Group sizes will be limited and all adults and children are required to wear masks indoors.

Please contact us if you have any questions or if you would like to register your child! You can stop by in person or give us a call!
