Arts & Smarts Starts Tuesday!

We’re excited to be kicking off a new school year in the Arts & Smarts Program!

Our middle school participants and high school volunteers have been hard at work over the past two weeks preparing for the younger participants who will start attending this Tuesday, September 22.

The older youth have learned about how to be good leaders, have worked to write a grant to fund this year’s Christmas Store, and have done special art projects including throwing pots on the wheels in our ceramics studio. They’ve also gotten to know one another and have begun building the Leadership Team, youth who help our program run smoothly and who support one another.

We have plenty of fun things planned beginning on September 22 when the younger participants in grades 1-5 will join us. There will be singing with Great Grandpa Gary, STEM activities with visiting librarians, studies of Eric Carle’s art, rock painting, experiences with the “Creative Choice Studio,” time in the studio building ceramic luminaries, and much, much more!

Our team of adult staff and volunteers along with the youth in our Leadership Team surrounds each participant in a community of caring, supporting the creativity and unique contributions of each one.

There is still room in the program for more participants, so you can sign your child up today! You can print a registration form from our website or pick one up from us in person. Call us at 812-424-2735 if you have questions.
